How to get to Villa La Angostura from Bariloche

A little over an hour on the road, with Lake Nahuel Huapi beside you almost the whole way.

The route

From Bariloche, take National Route 40 through Dina Huapi to the junction with National Route 231. Route 231 runs along the lake to Villa La Angostura and then continues to the Cardenal Samoré pass on the border with Chile.

By car it takes around 1 h 15 without stops. The nearest airport to the village is Bariloche.

Before you leave

  • Check today's conditions on Route 40 and Route 231: in winter there may be ice, snow or closures.
  • If you're going on to Chile, the Cardenal Samoré pass is on the same Route 231: check whether it's open and its hours.
  • Fill up in Bariloche or Dina Huapi.

And then

From Villa La Angostura the Seven Lakes Road heads north and ends in San Martín de los Andes.
