Villa La Angostura is the corridor's boutique destination: a mountain village of wood and stone, hidden bays, and Los Arrayanes national park at the door. Cerro Bayo, ten minutes away, is its ski hill — smaller and more family-friendly than Catedral.
It sits halfway along the Seven Lakes route, which makes it the perfect base for taking that drive slowly: Correntoso, Espejo, Falkner, Villarino and the rest, all in a day. In summer the beaches on Lake Correntoso have some of the clearest — and warmest — water around.

What “licensed” means on Aoni

- The Nahuel Huapi shore and the port, towards the Quetrihué peninsula: the 12 km trail across it and the trips to the arrayán forest leave from there.
- Lakes Correntoso and Espejo, heading north where the Seven Lakes Road begins: quieter, and in summer the Correntoso beaches have some of the warmest water around.
- The base of Cerro Bayo, ten minutes from the centre: the choice of those coming to ski.
When to go
In winter, Cerro Bayo takes centre stage, smaller and more family-friendly than Catedral; in summer, the lakes, the Correntoso beaches and the arrayán forest.
July, with the Argentine winter holidays, and December to February are the busiest months across the corridor: if you're travelling then, book ahead. In autumn and spring there's more to choose from.
Getting there
By air, to Bariloche airport, the closest one: from there it's about 88 km, around 1 h 15 by car, along National Route 40 and Route 231, hugging the lake.
From Chile you come in through the Cardenal Samoré crossing, about 42 km from the village along the same Route 231; from San Martín de los Andes, along the Seven Lakes Road, about 92 km on Route 40.
